Ford has been working on the next Mustang since the end of 2016.
Now the company is looking to make it the new Focus ST.
Focus ST will get a 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine that Ford is calling the 5.0L turbocharged version.
The engine, according to the automaker, should deliver up to 265hp and 295lb-ft of torque, according the company.
Ford said it will be available in five different models, including the 2018 Focus ST, Focus ST Convertible, Focus Sport Utility, Focus GT, and Focus RS.
The Focus ST is slated to start selling in 2019.
Ford will continue to make the Focus ST sedan and Focus ST pickup, with the 2019 Focus ST model going to the Ford Explorer.
